RIZE of the Morning Star Concert: Tabura Tabura Fresh from rocking Port Moresby in front of a crowd 20,000 strong comes the new voice of RIZE including 'Tabura', a group of Melanesians and Australians united in the cause of promoting Melanesian culture and music. Tabura perform along side members of Blue King Brown and other local artists – this year featuring Will Hatch from Fiji. " With a pure pedigree of Pacific rock royalty and a deeply personal message, you cant deny the magic that happens when Tabura is in full flight on stage. That's what happens with music and musicians that have some serious shit to say" Tania Nugent ABC International TV. RIZE is breaking new ground with their unique blend of music crossing traditional and contemporary genres fused in original songs and classic tunes by their forefathers. Regarded as the next generation of the famous Black Brothers from West Papua, the troupe is elegantly fronted by angelic voices of the Rumwaropen sisters, wicked moves of cassowary dancers and backed by a contented rhythm section of drums, percussion, bass and propelling keys, to guarantee their audience to appreciate roots Island vibes. The group also invigorate music of Papuan legend songman and musicologist Arnold Ap and the famous Black Brothers. The band and its members have collaborated with some of the biggest names in the Pacific including George Telek (PNG), Blue King Brown, David Bridie, Grrilla Step, Nicki Bomba, Albert David, and Gulaan (New Caledonia). TABURA means music-making, literally 'drum' and 'conch', is very evocative in Melanesian and Oceanic cultures as it often represents a calling together, a rally to arms or a gathering.
