The 7th Waghi Cultural Show will be held from 11-14 June 2010 at Nondugl, Jiwaka Province.

The Waghi cultural show is an annual even in the Waghi area of formerly Western Highlands Province. Recently in 2009 the people of Waghi, also known as Jiwaka have detached themselves from Western Highlands Province to form their own. Now that they have their own province it gives them a significant identity as a people and we expect the 2010 Waghi show to be bigger and better than the preceding years.

The Waghi people consists of three distinct groups speaking three different languages. They include, Jimi, Waghi and the Kambia localities. They each have a unique and different, cultures, traditions and lifestyles. Jimi group are mostly small in size and they live in the jungles between WHP and Madang. Waghi populace share boarder with Chimbu while Kambia natives split theirs with Southern Highlands Province. The only forum in which they come together to showcase their unique cultures and traditions is through the Waghi Cultural Show. The 2010 Waghi Show will give birth to a new era where displays of extravagant cultures and tradition and an emblem of pride and identity of the Jiwaka people will be staged.
