John Ani Murray born 1st March 1976, musician, teacher, lecturer, sound engineer. Flute is his principle instrument and can also play the following: saxophone, drums, bass, keyboard, clarinet and PNG traditional instrument. John also has experience as a DJ supervisor.


John has travelled throughout Papua New Guinea (PNG) and overseas, Sydneys APRA Song summit, Jakarta, Brisbane, Singapore, Japan, Philippines and Thailand.

His two publications includes a contemporary jazz fusion album Warian Echoe 2009 CHM and the contemporary album Chanted Groove Band 2012 soon to be released 2015 Chm.

John attended the arts school, Creative Arts University of Papua New Guinea(UPNG). He has no music experience but through time commitment and love of music he made it. Through practice, study and listening to advices from mentors. He had the previlige to study under some of foreign and Pngs great musicians like: Tony Soru Subam, Thomas Komboi, Paul Yabo, Yawi Yambon, Bitali Tauwala, Cyril Lumbia, Denis Crowdy AUS, Dr. Elizabeth Barber USA, Keith Terret UK and Robert Reigle USA.

John is currently lecturing at the University of Papua New Guinea.
