Ormieres established his reputation as an independent European filmmaker with his first feature, "Rue cases-nègres" ("Sugarcane Alley") directed by Euzhan Palcy, honoured with the French Cesar 1984 and the Sivler Lion in Venice. He then produced and co-produced many directors such as Patricia Mazuy, Dai Sijie, Raymond Depardon, Stijn Coninx, Luc et Jean-Pierre Dardenne, Yolande Zauberman. Between 1993 and 2001, as General Manager and producer for Les films Balenciaga, his productions include films directed by Chantal Akerman, Jean-Jacques Zilbermann, Ferzan Ozpetek, Michel Couvelard and Amos Gitaï. In 2001, he created OF2B Productions and produces "Aaltra" by Benoit Delépine and Gustave Kervern, "Komma" by Martine Doyen (Critics' Week, Cannes 2006), "Dissidence" by Euzhan Palcy, and "Vocation cineaste" by Laurent Perrin.
