Gideon was born in the Duke of York Islands just off Rabaul, East New Britain Province.  His early schooling was in the traditional community school however, as is all too common here, it was not long before he had to travel to complete his education, moving first to Rabaul and then onto Goroka where he graduated with a Certificate in Graphic Arts and Design.

He returned briefly to East New Britain taking a role as illustrator with the Office of Information before coming to Port Moresby to work as an exhibition designer for the Papua New Guinea National Museum where he continues to contribute today. 

Gideon's polished style has seen his work represented in shows in Belgium, Holland, Germany, Indonesia and Australia whilst keeping a strong presence in senior shows at home.  He is currently working on a larger scale and maintains the strong individuality that keeps his work so in demand.
