Baggagi is a traditional village in the Niger river zone of 600 souls. Two thirds are children. Director Jean-Louis Saporito first came during the famine in 2005 when he met Hadiza and her critically-ill baby girl at a nearby clinic run by ‘Médecins Sans Frontieres'. Hadiza has had 11 children, only 3 survived, common enough in Niger. Through Hadiza, he met the entire village and over 3 years, came to care for them deeply. This is their story -their struggle and deprivation, but also their joys and hopes, their great dignity. What is it really like to live in the poorest country on earth?
