Expropriated in 1974, Grandfather Loriesfontein and his family went into exile in the Namib desert. Twenty-one years later, they returned on foot to Riemvasmaak, their village in South Africa. With eyes full of sadness and nostalgia, but also full of hope, Grandfather and his family, like all South Africans, are trying to heal the wounds left by apartheid.
