Ahmed and his family live in extreme poverty. He is sixty and earns little money by leaving an earthenware vase of drinkable water on his doorstep, to quench bystanders' thirst in exchange for a coin. After his death, his wife continues to quench bystanders' thirst, until she dies as well. The only one left is their son, a disabled man who doesn't want to continue the tradition and who decides to make his own way out of this miserable existence.
