The documentary follows the story of a group of Sengalese people who, for financial reasons, end up going to live in a European suburb in crisis. The group is heterogenous: they took up residence in the outskirts of Barcelona in an abandoned old factory, transforming it into a house. They are all unusual immigrants, for them Barcelona is not the post card city that they expected when they first left for it, but a complex metropolis, excluding and controlling. Their lives are a joke: someone recycles metal, others repair fishing nets, others traffic drugs.

Once again evicted from their squats in Barcelona, two groups of Senegalese men float in an apparently endless existential drift. Unemployed, but also proud, they try desperately to make the best of what has been handed out to them. Facing the difficulties of their daily lives they stick together like living through the days and nights that overlap endlessly. Harassed unrelentingly by the cops patrolling the streets and also by citizens who believe that general Franco would have never allowed such unruly behaviour, they begin to realize that their European dream is maybe nothing more than a heap of illusions. Director Pierpaolo Verdecchi captures the rage but also the tenderness and the despair of men existing on the outskirts of society, with nothing on their hands but time and their bare lives, as they move on tirelessly like a lost tribe following a secret, unheard beat. Shot in a precise black and white style, stylish and observational, the film has the fierce pulse of a hip-hop song and the melancholic feeling of a reggae ballad.

Zwei Gruppen senegalesischer Männer, die einmal mehr aus den von ihnen besetzten Häusern hinausgeworfen wurden, treiben in einem scheinbar endlosen existenziellen Strom. Beschäftigungslos aber stolz versuchen sie, das Beste aus dem zu machen, was ihnen gegeben wurde. Den Schwierigkeiten ihres Alltags gemeinsam trotzend, halten sie zusammen und durchleben eine endlose Abfolge von Tagen und Nächten. Von den in den Strassen patrouillierenden Polizisten und Anwohnern, die laut sagen, dass es unter General Franco so nie zugegangen wäre, unablässig schikaniert, beginnen sie zu ahnen, dass ihr Traum von Europa möglicherweise nicht mehr als ein Haufen Illusionen ist. Regisseur Pierpaolo Verdecchi erfasst die Wut, aber auch die Zärtlichkeit und die Verzweiflung von Männern am Rande der Gesellschaft, die ausser Zeit und ihren blossen Händen nichts haben und sich unermüdlich weiterbewegen wie ein verlorener Stamm, der einem geheimen, unhörbaren Rhythmus folgt. Der in präzisem Schwarz-Weiss gedrehte stilvolle und beobachtende Film schwingt im grimmigen Rhythmus eines Hip-Hop Songs und dem melancholischen Feeling einer Reggae-Ballade.
